At Every Juncture, Liberalism Has Failed the United States
No matter where you turn, Liberalism has failed remarkably, cost Americans trillions, and yet, Liberals manage to garner enough votes to get elected. Will Americans EVER wake up to their devious maneuvering and pandering?
When I envision the Democrat mascot, I see a mule with a carrot dangled in front of it on a stick. No doubt it is one of the hard head-est creatures on God’s earth, but symbolic of how Democrats react in voting. You dangle enough “goodies” in front of them, hit them hard with rhetoric and promises, and tease them with enough “hope and change”, and you get elected. It doesn’t matter to most, if not all, Democrats that what they are hoping will change will actually change into the great bastion of Socialism- it’s all about me and what I get rather than what this nation needs to survive. Every where you look in our government, you see the evidence of Democrat “goodies”, or social experiments, that have failed and will continue to fail.
One only needs to look at the history of many of our social programs to understand the ignorance of the ideas and the costs associated with those ideas. Take Social Security for example. When first proposed in the FDR administration, it was designed to assist those retiring with a plan to take a little now, put it into a trust fund, and use the benefits later. Needless to say, it isn’t working today, because of the rape and pillage of the system by Democrats in the Johnson, Carter, and Clinton administrations. Today, we hear of reforming Social Security and nothing is ever done to actually rid our nation of this “ponzi scheme” that will continue to cost many future generations trillions of dollars to fund a program that clearly isn’t all it was claimed to be. We have an entire generation of Americans ready to retire and a payout that isn’t even going to cover the cost of living of 90% of those retiring. We also see a need to increase funding and more and more costs to the American worker in the form of Social Security taxes. If anyone in the private sector would have devised such a scheme, trust me, they would be behind bars serving a very lengthy sentence for fraud.
Another look in to the expansion of Social Security is the Medicare system. Cost over-runs, increases in medical costs, increases in the cost of medical advancements have left many of those who depend on Medicare finding less and less in terms of benefits and far more being spent out of pocket for their medical care. Those are over 65 and finding less benefits each and every year as supplemental insurance premiums are skyrocketing as Medicare reduces benefits in an effort to gain a handle on the increases in medical care costs.
Medicaid is another program that is facing the same crisis of financing that Medicare is facing. Even though the program was designed for those without medical coverage who have income threatening illnesses, the abuses and expansion of those who it can cover has lead to more costs associated to it than originally designed. Again, the burden on government has far exceeded it’s budgetary estimates since it’s inception. The states bear the brunt of funding as well. It is another example of government intervention into the system that has lead to more taxpayer funded programs that are not meeting the levels of expectations of the beneficiaries.
Perhaps the greatest and definitely one of the most expensive Liberal programs has been the Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac disasters that have lead Congress to a bailout Bill this past week. If anyone wants someone to blame, then blame Democrats changes in the housing initiatives in the Carter and Clinton administrations which forced lenders to make mortgage loans to those who could not afford home ownership and also to the changes in laws that allowed the “bundling” of mortgage backed assets in the form of securities being sold on Wall Street. Each of these changes lead to the collapse of the housing market, the collapse and losses on Wall Street, and allowed those making loans to become greedy enough to entice buyers into loans and homes they could neither afford or understand. You look at the laws that changed with Liberal backing and you see that it all boils down to Liberalism having a “dream and promise” that if fulfilled as offered, came crashing down around the heads of taxpayers to the tune of $700 billion and more likely closer to a trillion dollars once the smoke has cleared.
The one question I have for ALL Americans is simple- if these programs are so great and so good for this nation, why is it that Congress has to continually revisit them and pass new legislation with the promise of “fixing them” every single year? We continually hear that Social Security will hit the point of benefits exceeding income to the program, Medicare payments being reduced to doctors and hospitals, doctors no longer accepting new Medicare patients, Medicaid funding needing increases, and the largest financial bailout in this nations history. Every Congress since I can remember has attempted to answer these issues with “resounding success”, only to find that the success was a complete and total failure left to the next Congress to address and fix.
Once again, this election cycle, we are having Liberals dangle a lot more enticing carrots in front of you. There are promises of “universal healthcare”, free education, economic solutions to the meltdown, fixing Social Security, baby bonds, and the list goes on. Yet, in each and every instance, there are resounding failures every time you look into the Liberal programs government creates. It can only mean one thing- Government can’t fix the ailments of this nation, but rather create the conditions for failure and costs to the American taxpayer that would far exceed the price if left in the free and open market. When government takes control of your personal issues, they also take away your freedoms of choice. Liberals are very good at selling you on the idea that somehow that is a good thing. What they don’t mention is the failures at every turn in the programs they have created in the past.
I feel that the choices facing this nation has reached a crossroads in which we will see the largest turnover of personal freedoms to government should Liberals take total control of Washington. You will see government promising change and making your life and your very survival dependant on them. Your housing, your income, and your life will have more government control than ever before. The carrots will look more like 100 ton bags of misery once Liberals get in control and have their way with our nations government and the taxpayers funding them.
The REAL question you need to answer is very simple. What are you going to pass to your children and grandchildren if you vote for Liberals this election season?
I can assure you of one predition that will come true- you will wish you had voted differently 4 years from now if you buy into the carrot dangling.
